President’s Letter 2019-2020

Greetings on behalf of the Gainesville Alumnae Chapter; one of the many chapters in the Dynamic Southern Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The sorority has a membership of over 200,000 women in the United States and abroad dedicated to public service through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrusts.

Our chapter was chartered in 1985 by thirty-nine visionary women. Today, more than 30 years later our Chapter remains united in sisterhood to provide impactful public service to the citizens and communities of Alachua in the areas of educational and economic development, physical and mental health, political awareness and social action involvement and international awareness. Our signature programs include Scholarships for deserving young women; engaging youth programs for ages 9-18; public forums related to economic advantages; Red TuTu 5K Heart Run, 5th Avenue Arts Festival; East Gainesville Relay for Life Platinum Partner; support of the local & mainstream Arts; recognition Brunch to honor Local Pastors, annual Jazz n’ Jeans Gala; and engaging in social action through involvement in local, state and national government. Please bookmark our website to stay informed!

We are a chapter that believes in the power of collaboration and partnership with individuals and organizations that align with our purpose. If you are interested in working with us on civic-minded programs, contact us at
