2026 College Scholarship Application

The Gainesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated awards scholarships to deserving public high school seniors in Alachua and Columbia County. We will award five $1,500.00 scholarships to African American female or male students who plan on attending an accredited institution of higher learning upon public high school graduation. Students who demonstrate scholastic achievement and are active in volunteer community service are encouraged to apply.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Since its founding, more than 300,000 women have joined the organization. The sorority is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college educated women and currently has 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica and the Republic of Korea. 

Delta Sigma Theta was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University. These students sought to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to those in need. Some of the sorority's local projects include Get Out the Vote initiatives, participation in Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events, and Financial Literacy and Gun Violence Awareness programs.
